Critics rightly point out that unfettered markets can produce inequality, monopolies, or negative externalities; however, these risks are addressed through targeted regulation (antitrust enforcement, environmental rules) and social policies, and do not negate the overall evidence that entrepreneurship and free enterprise substantially raise living standards and economic opportunity when paired with effective governance.
