- Mexico is in southern North America, directly south of the United States.
- It has a long narrow peninsula to the northwest (Baja California) and a large eastern coastline on the Gulf of Mexico/Caribbean and a western coastline on the Pacific.
- To the southeast it borders Guatemala and Belize; the Yucatán Peninsula projects into the Gulf/Caribbean.
- Mexico’s capital, Mexico City, is inland in the south-central highlands (not on the coast).
