Difference of Squares

Two squares sit apart, a^2 and b^2,
Subtract them gently, the answer's right there.
a^2 − b^2, it looks like a chore,
But it splits in two: (a − b)(a + b) — no more.

Take that split and set it to zero,
If one factor is zero, the roots we can know.
(a − b) = 0 gives a = b,
