If V is the centroid and T is the midpoint of side QR, then VT is the segment from centroid to the midpoint of a side. The centroid divides each median in the ratio PV:VT = 2:1 (vertex to centroid is twice centroid to midpoint). So PV = 2·VT = 2·3 = 6.
