A musician hits a drum with a drumstick. In three to four sentences, explain the collision forces between the drum and the drumstick

When the stick hits the drum it applies a short, strong push (a force) to the drumhead. At the same time the drumhead pushes back on the stick with an equal force in the opposite direction (Newton’s third law). That push makes the drumhead stretch and vibrate, and those vibrations move the air so we hear sound. Some of the stick’s energy goes into the vibrations and some is lost as heat or sent back into the stick, so the sound fades.
