The organization even offers a wedding registry so that engaged couples can register for gifts to Heifer instead of traditional wedding presents. Heifer International is currently embarking on a campaign called Hope for the Future. This project is dedicated to raising $800 million to lift five million families worldwide to self-reliance.

9 Heifer International operates three learning centers around the United States where volunteers can go and stay for retreats or educational programs. The learning centers offer experiential learning programs for visitors to learn about world hunger and poverty. Depending on the program chosen, visitors are taken through the daily struggles that impoverished people face every day. They might spend a day in a village representing one of the regions where Heifer works or experience poverty first hand through simulation. Through living the lives of others, participants find that something extraordinary happens. Their attitudes about the global issues Heifer tackles are transformed. Their understanding of the world and their place in it changes forever.
