Quick tips to tell these apart while you check:

- Student: sign for LEARN (student = LEARN + PERSON). Usually one hand takes something from an open palm up to the forehead (a “pickup to head” motion).
- Teacher: TEACH (teacher = TEACH + PERSON). Typically a “give knowledge” motion with both hands near the forehead/chest moving outward (and then you add the person classifier).
- Principal: often signed as “PRINCIPAL”/“SCHOOL + PERSON” or by signing “HEAD/LEADER” at the top of the body — look for a sign that indicates position/authority rather than the learn/teach motions.
