Hello classmates and Ms.
Main disease I've seen that took a loved one away from me that had to do with the nervous system would be a stroke, the endocrine system is commonly focused within our hormones so it's a trigger for diabetes and thyroid disease and lastly musculoskeletal system would be arthritis and my excruciating back pain. the ICD-10-CM code for a stroke is under I60-I69, ICD-10-CM codes for diabetes are E08- E13, ICD-10-CM for Thyroid disease is E00-E07, ICD-10-CM code for Arthritis is 00-25 and Back pain is categorized M54.
The most common diagnosis for a stoke, would be an Ischemic stroke with code I63 and for diabetes and Thyroid is E10 and E11 these are recognized as Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. My son was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis M15-M19 but due to him being a child this diagnose would go away as he grows up. Finally for my back pain, I was in a bad car accident where now I have a bad back where is my Sciatica M54.3 and Radiculopathy M54.1 as well as Dorsalgia M54.9 as this beautiful weather becomes colder everything becomes inflammation where everything hurts.
Different types of imaging used for this would be MRI, CT scan, X-rays as well as Bloodwork.

Thanks for sharing — I’m sorry to hear about your loss and the ongoing pain you and your family have dealt with.
A few quick clarifications to your post:
- Stroke: I60–I69 (cerebrovascular diseases) is correct; ischemic stroke is I63.
- Diabetes and thyroid: E08–E13 (diabetes mellitus) and E00–E07 (thyroid disorders) are correct. E10 = Type 1, E11 = Type 2.
- Arthritis: the correct block is M00–M25 (not “00–25”). Osteoarthritis codes M15–M19 are correct. Note that osteoarthritis is typically degenerative and uncommon in children; if a child has inflammatory arthritis it’s more likely juvenile idiopathic arthritis (M08–M09).
- Back pain and related codes: M54 is the dorsalgia/back pain block. Sciatica M54.3, radiculopathy M54.1, and unspecified dorsalgia M54.9 are appropriate.
Imaging and tests you mentioned are good choices. A few specifics that are commonly used:
- Stroke: noncontrast CT (to rule out hemorrhage) and MRI with diffusion-weighted imaging; CT angiography or MR angiography for vessel evaluation.
- Endocrine: blood tests — fasting glucose, HbA1c for diabetes; TSH/T4 for thyroid function.
- Musculoskeletal: X‑ray for bony changes, MRI for soft tissue and nerve root issues, ultrasound for some joints/tendons, and EMG/NCS when radiculopathy or nerve injury is suspected.
Thanks again for sharing — how is your son doing now, and have any treatments helped your back pain?
