What does the word "Independence" mean to you? Is it something truly worth fighting for in your opinion?

To me, independence means having the freedom and ability to make my own choices, manage my affairs, and shape my life without undue control from others. It implies responsibility for the consequences of those choices and the confidence to pursue one’s values and goals. I believe independence is worth defending when it safeguards basic human rights, dignity, and the capacity for self-determination. However, the means of defending it matter, and I prefer nonviolent, principled approaches that minimize harm and consider long-term outcomes. Ultimately, independence is valuable but should be balanced with responsibilities to others and careful consideration of the costs of conflict.
