Summarize

Write an objective summary of what happened in the story in 6-8 sentences. An objective summary is JUST THE FACTS, not what you think about what happened. Make sure to work in chronological order, include all key details and to be as accurate as possible. HINT: the summary should NOT include any details about who Charles really is or what his connection is to Laurie- that's info that's OUTSIDE the story!

Laurie starts kindergarten, and his mother writes about his first days at school. On the first day he comes home and tells a story about a boy in his class named Charles who misbehaves. Each day Laurie reports more outrageous things Charles did at school, like being rude to the teacher, hitting other children, and getting into trouble. As Laurie tells the stories, he also begins to act differently at home, becoming defiant and saying naughty words. The mother becomes fascinated and amused by Charles’s antics and talks about them with her husband and other parents. She attends a PTA meeting to learn more about kindergarten behavior and later asks Laurie’s teacher about Charles. The teacher’s answer surprises the mother, so she continues to watch Laurie and listen to his stories.
