I called it a chemical change because the original reactants were transformed into new substances with different compositions and properties rather than just a change of state. The start materials looked different from the end products (for example a color change, bubbling or a new solid forming) and I observed evidence like gas evolution, a precipitate, and a temperature change, all of which indicate new substances were produced.
