The German Economy
Germany became an important industrial country in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It had plenty of coal and iron ore, which were used to make steel. Rivers, canals, and railroads helped move goods and connect cities. Over time, Germany became known for research, engineering, and car manufacturing. Today, Germany has the largest economy in Europe. The government helps pay for health care and college, and people have a high standard of living.

The British Economy
Britain was the first country to industrialize. Its first big industry was textile production, which used water power from rivers and streams. Britain’s many seaports and canals helped trade grow. Later, coal and iron helped Britain build a steel industry. Today, Britain’s economy depends on financial services and focuses more on technology and innovation, though it still uses natural resources.
