Why do many historians consider World War II a good war?

Many people do not consider WWII as the "good war." Many were killed and wounded.
However, the Allies was fighting a clear villain -- Hitler and the Nazis. Most Americans supported our war effort. American involvement in the war was relatively short -- less than 4 years. After the war, Europeans and Americans celebrated the victories and gave the military heroes' welcomes.
