We can make sure environmental policies are fair by having clear rules that apply to everyone and using the same standards in all places. Independent groups should monitor pollution and hold people or companies accountable if they break the rules. Communities that are affected most should be included in decisions and told what is happening so things stay honest. For example, if a factory pollutes a river, officials should test the water, fine the factory the same way no matter where it is located, and work with neighbors on cleanup so poorer areas aren't ignored.
