While I am out today, I changed my mind about you guys annotating ๐ I do want you guys to read pages 14-19 of ch. 3, but I also want you in the text box to tell me how Thomas Paine viewed the current state of American affairs. This text entry will need to be at least one paragraph long (4-5 sentences). Please remember, we have a test over all chapters of "Common Sense" here later on this week ๐ ***The end of the 6th week grading cycle closes on Friday***

Thomas Paine viewed the state of American affairs as urgent and untenable: British rule had become oppressive, self-interested, and increasingly incompatible with American liberty and prosperity. He argued that repeated attempts at reconciliation had failed and that remaining tied to a distant, corrupt monarchy would only perpetuate conflict and stifle growth. Paine believed the colonies had the resources, reason, and right to form their own government and economy, and that a united, independent America offered the best hope for secure freedom. In short, he saw the moment as decisiveโtime to break old ties and create a new, self-governing nation.
