(1) Before I visited the national park that encompasses parts of Tennessee and North Carolina last summer, had I no idea why the Great Smoky Mountains were given their name? (2) On my first day in the forest, however, I stood high on an overlook and gazed out over the landscape below. (3) As a bird, I would fly over this place. (4) Enveloping the mountain ridges and the trees for as far as my eyes could see was a thin blue haze that reminded me very much of wispy clouds of smoke. (5) At this precise moment, the mystery was solved. (6) I no longer wondered why the early settlers to this region dubbed this portion of Southern Appalachia the “Great Smoky Mountains.”

(7) If you and your family like hiking, horseback riding, bicycling, and wildlife-viewing like my family does, then you also like visiting this park. (8) One of my favorite activities was renting horses and meandering slowly along the old-growth pine-oak forest’s trails. (9) As we traveled along, herds of white-tail deer were seen grazing in the distance. (10) We saw slow-moving box turtles and yellow-spotted salamanders. (11) We also spied raccoons and squirrels scampering below us and red-bellied woodpeckers were heard in the trees above. (12) Fortunately, we didn’t see any black bears while we were in the park, though. (13) And we were surprised about that. (14) Prior to our visit, we had read that there are an estimated two black bears per every square mile of the park. (15) I don’t mind seeing these furry friends from a very far distance, but I wouldn’t want to run into one in person. (16) Could you even imagine how scary that would be? (17) That is definitely not an experience that I want to have written on my “bucket list,” or things I want to do during my lifetime.

(18) In addition to nature activities, there are historical sites to see in the park too. (19) While here, we toured some of the preserved log structures. (20) Oh wow, it was incredibly interesting to see how people lived in this remote locale hundreds of years ago.

A

Explanation: The original asserts a definite result ("you also like visiting this park") from a condition that only implies a possibility. Option A corrects the tone by using "might," making the conclusion appropriately tentative and natural.
