Landforms on Earth

Look around. There are different kinds of land on Earth. They are called landforms.

There are mountains on Earth. mountains are very tall. Hills are tall too. But not as tall as mountains!

There are also low places. They are called valleys. Some valleys are very deep and made of rocks. These are called canyons.

Islands are landforms too! They have water all around them. They can have beaches too!

There is a lot of water on Earth too. There are lakes and ponds. There are five big oceans. Oceans are made of saltwater. They make up most of the Earth’s water.

Landforms are made in different ways. Some mountains and hills form because of large pieces of rock. They are deep in the Earth. The rocks move over time.

Erosion makes landforms too. Erosion is the when rocks wear away. Wind, water, and ice can do this. It takes a long time.
