Water on Earth

We use water every day. We use it to drink. We use it to wash our hands. We use it for many things.



Water covers most of the earth. It is in oceans and lakes. We can find it in other bodies of water. We can even find water in ice.



Some bodies of water are made of saltwater. Saltwater holds salt! Oceans are large bodies of saltwater. They make up almost all of the water on Earth!



Freshwater does not hold salt. It is found in sinks and water bottles. It is safe to drink. We need it to live.



Most freshwater is found as ice. It is in glaciers and icebergs. These are huge blocks of ice.



There are two huge ice caps. They are melting. This is not good. It could make it hard to find drinking water.



We should conserve water. That means we should save it. We can take short showers. We can turn off the water when we’re not using it. Water is important!
