I needed to create sentence containing the phrase "green with envy". I have got two sentences here, but I need help picking out the one that makes more sense.

Emily’s new look made her friends green with envy.

Emily’s friends became green with envy when they saw her new look.

Both are good. I prefer the second one, though.
