Hello, it's AL again.

I wonder if commercial airplanes for travellers can possibly use an alternative fuel in the future for flying.

Yes it is possible. A number of alternative fuels including corn-based ethanol have been considered and even tested. However, because of the sensitivity of today's aircraft engines and the need to operate in a wide range of conditions (eg. temperature), alternatives such as biofuels are unlikely to be utilized in the near future.
