The larynx is located above the trachea and slightly in front of it in the neck. The larynx, commonly known as the voice box, is situated at the level of the fourth to sixth cervical vertebrae, while the trachea (windpipe) begins just below the larynx and extends down into the thoracic cavity. So, to clarify, the larynx is not directly in front of the trachea but is positioned above it and anteriorly (in front) relative to the vertebral column.
