Coming down the long hill,Nelson averaged 24 miles per hour. If it took him 5 minutes to come down the hill, how long was the hill?

First, convert minutes to hours:
5 min*(1 hr/60 min)=0.0833333...hr or 1/12 hr

Then multiply it to 24 miles/hr:
(24 miles/hr) * (1/12 hr) = 2 miles.
