Our CNS is responsible for physical symptoms of anxiety and stress like rapid heart rate, heavy breathing, and sweating. Our Amygdala processes emotions and can be hyperactive in people with anxiety, the Prefrontal Cortex is responsible for decision making and can be les active in those with depression, and the Hippocampus is important for our memory and emotions, and can shrink from PTSD. Disruptions/imbalances to our nervous system and neurotransmitters can lead to and worsen mental health conditions.
