Protagonist Symbol: A Quill Pen

Quill Pen Symbol (Note: Please replace with an actual image link if creating this scrapbook digitally.)

Explanation: I chose a quill pen to symbolize Anne Frank as the protagonist because it represents her introspective nature and her gift for writing. Throughout The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne uses her diary as a means of self-expression and as a way to cope with the harsh realities of her life in hiding. The quill pen also reflects her aspirations for freedom and the power of words, as she often dreams of becoming a writer and hopes that her words will live on beyond her circumstances. For instance, she writes, “I want to be able to write, and I'm sure that, with practice, I could become a great writer.” This symbolizes not only her resilience but her longing for a voice in a world that often silenced people like her.
