We chose to volunteer at the Hlogotlou Police Station as part of our community service for Nelson Mandela Day because we wanted to contribute positively to the local community. The police play a crucial role in ensuring safety and security, which is foundational for any thriving community. Additionally, we believed that engaging with law enforcement can provide insight into the challenges faced by the community, and allow us to assist in promoting awareness of safety measures and crime prevention strategies.

1.3 Focus of the Campaign/Project

The focus of our project was on crime prevention and community engagement. We aimed to assist the police in organizing community awareness programs, where we would help disseminate important information to residents regarding safety, reporting procedures for crimes, and the importance of working together as a community to reduce crime. Our goal was to educate the community, foster trust between residents and the police, and encourage a collaborative approach to safety.
