Question

give me a response to this

As someone who works in the service industry, I’ve had to learn how to talk to people who don’t speak the same language or those who have different beliefs. An example I identified was working with language barriers, learning how to speak to coworkers in a respectful manner and in a way we could all understand each other. A challenge I faced in these situations is confusion in our vocabulary and even nonverbal misinterpretations; some things can mean one thing to you but completely different for the next person even something as simple as a facial expression. A benefit would be learning from each other’s cultures, teaching each other how to be better people and better acclimatize to our surroundings. Then, I could’ve considered the principle of the fact that some people hesitate to speak up cause of the cultural differences, fearing saying the wrong thing and offering more support to give them the confidence to speak up. Next time I encounter a cross-cultural communication situation I could be more self-aware and be an active listener to avoid any misinterpretations, understand that other people have different etiquette and communication styles than mine.
