As technology progressed, the environment also began to suffer. Our dependence on coal and crude oil to generate electricity for our daily needs is one of the single biggest causes of pollution. A switch to nuclear energy comes with its own downside of a risk and huge expenses. Nuclear disasters like Chernobyl and Fukushima are a reminder of the double-edged sword of progress.
