Overview

Create a visual storybook that follows three generations of a Canadian family from 1946 to 2019. Your story will explore how historical events shaped their lives, identities, and experiences. This is your chance to creatively demonstrate your understanding of Canadian history through storytelling, visuals, and voice.

Time Periods to Cover

You must include one chapter per week of class content

1946–1959 (Plus post war international affairs from the previous week)

1960–1969

Each chapter must cover one section from each of the lessons for that week

For each topic you use, you have to connect it to the story as follows

Communication Requirements

Create a storybook with voiceover narration or picture book with voiceover narration

On screen words are optional

Images may be:

Hand-drawn images

Images from websites (with sources cited at the bottom of each page they were used on)

AI-generated images (include the prompt used at the bottom of the page they were used on)

Images will be evaluated on their historical accuracy

Language and slang must match the time period for which you are writing

Example (Don’t have someone say “Dude” in the 1950s, but it makes sense in the 1980s)

Spelling and grammar are considered

Unless otherwise not counted as per accommodations

Narration must be recorded by you

Use of an AI voice only if accommodations permit it

Each chapter has a maximum time limit of three minutes

2 minutes for the title page allowed

Total slideshow time is 20 minutes max
