Lambic pentameter

Write as a fourth grader

Lambic pentameter is a rhythm we find,
In poems and stories, it’s fun and kind.
It has ten beats in each line, you see,
With a pattern of strong and weak that's key.

It starts with a weak beat, then strong comes next,
Like a heartbeat, it flows—it’s really the best!
When you read it aloud, it sounds so neat,
It's like a little dance, with rhymes that repeat.

So if you want to write poems that flow,
Just count out the beats, and let your ideas grow!
With lambic pentameter, you’ll have some fun,
Creating cool rhymes before you are done!
