By looking at this assessment rubric, can you please help me write my journal report of my micro teaching. My first lesson observation for assessment one I taught on the strand 2 writing, unit is production and distribution of writing and the topic I taught is exploring sentence structure. My pre conferencing with my supervisor was going well. It took me 3 days to prepared the lesson for teaching. When it comes to my teaching time, it was my first time and I was so nervous and not that confident. But after my post conferencing with my supervisor I thought to myself that on my second day of teaching, I'll improve on time, transition of teaching and time.
So please help me construct my reflection report.

Micro Teaching Reflective Report

Introduction

This reflective report aims to encapsulate my experiences and insights gained from the micro-teaching lessons observed, specifically focusing on my first lesson regarding the production and distribution of writing on the topic of "Exploring Sentence Structure." The report will detail the preparation process, supervision communication, teaching execution, and reflections on subsequent improvements for future lessons.

1. Lesson Observations

(A) Details of Three Demonstration Lessons:

  • Lesson 1: "Exploring Sentence Structure"

    • Date: [Insert Date]
    • Duration: [Insert Duration]
    • Objective: To understand and apply different sentence structures in writing.
  • Lesson 2: [Insert Title]

    • Date: [Insert Date]

    • Objective: [Insert Objective]
  • Lesson 3: [Insert Title]

    • Date: [Insert Date]
    • Duration: [Insert Duration]
    • Objective: [Insert Objective]

Evaluation of Lessons:

In comparing the three lessons, it became evident that each lesson had its unique strengths and weaknesses. My approach in Lesson 1 was to create an engaging environment, which succeeded in maintaining students' attention, although I struggled with time management and transitions. Lessons 2 and 3 incorporated multiple strategies for improving these areas, resulting in more fluid instruction and a better allocation of time for activities.

2. Pre-Teaching Conference Communication

During the preparatory phase, my pre-teaching conference with my supervisor was constructive and insightful. We thoroughly discussed my lesson plan, included the objectives, and clarified key concepts like sentence structure. The communication was managed effectively, allowing me to express my anxieties and seek guidance freely. I appreciated the feedback on the anticipated challenges and the suggestions for resource materials that enriched my lesson.

3. Advisory Lesson Reflection

Confidence and Competency:

Upon executing the first lesson, I realized how nervous I felt, which impacted my confidence and delivery. Nevertheless, the feedback from my post-conference with the supervisor highlighted my strengths in engaging students and my understanding of the content. Additionally, I noticed there were moments where I struggled with pacing, which can be attributed to nerves affecting my time management.

Students’ Feedback:

The students’ accounts after the lesson were largely supportive, aligning with my supervisor’s observations. Many students highlighted the fun activities but mentioned they would have preferred more time for hands-on practice with sentence structures.

Improvements Suggested:

Based on the discussions about Lesson 1, adjustments in my preparation for the second lesson focused on clearly defining transitions between activities and practicing my pacing. I also incorporated more interactive elements where students could collaboratively explore sentence structures, which was suggested in the post-conference feedback.

4. Changes for the Second Lesson

In preparing for my second lesson, I made significant adjustments to ensure smoother transitions and effective time management. These included time checks during each segment of the lesson and a more structured outline to guide my teaching. I also incorporated a quick greet and settle phase into the lesson, allowing students to transition into learning mode more effectively.

Strengths Observed:

Among the strengths that carried over from the first lesson were the effective engagement strategies I put into practice. The students responded positively during group activities and discussions, showing enthusiasm for using sentence structures in writing.

5. Summary

The insights gained from the three micro-teaching lessons have been invaluable in shaping my teaching approach. Key takeaways include the importance of preparation, effective communication with my supervisor, and adhering to time management to enhance lesson delivery. As I move forward to my next lessons, I will ensure I carry the constructive feedback into my practice to foster a more effective learning environment.

Overall, this reflective report has helped me acknowledge both my growth areas and accomplishments across my teaching experiences, providing a solid foundation for continuous improvement in my teaching journey.
