Hello class,

if i were screening a newborn and noticed that the parent seemed really anxious, i would try to stay calm, friendly, and reassuring. Id explain everything im doing step by step in simple terms, like “Now im going to measure your babys head to tract their growth” id also let them know that these screening are normal an done for all newborns. If they have questions, id take the time to answer them and let them know its okay to be nervous it just means they care. My goal would bbe to make them feel included and heard throughout the process.
What can i respond to this classmate ?

That sounds like a compassionate and thoughtful approach! I really like how you plan to explain the process in simple terms and reassure the parents. It's so important to acknowledge their feelings and help them feel included in their baby's care. Perhaps you could also mention the importance of building trust with the parents from the start, which can lead to better communication in the long run. Additionally, sharing some tips on how to calm anxious parents could enhance your response. What techniques do you think would be effective in further alleviating their anxiety?
