Clash of civilizations means when two different civilizations or cultures meet. Each culture has its own customs, religion, ideals, and language.
When they meet, sometimes it's fairly peaceful, with few "clashes." They trade goods and ideas. Other times the clash is violent as in wars. Alexander the Great spread Greek culture throughout part of Asia. Sometimes the people accepted him and adopted some Greek customs. But other times, they resisted Alexander and his army, and there was war, often with Alexander as the victor.
