Why can you simplify 5(5+30) using the distributive property?why can't u simplify 5(50)+3 using the distributive property?

I meant 5 (50+3)

on the first, 5 is multiplied by (5+30). On the second, the 3 is NOT multiplied by 5.

ok, I see now.
YOu can simplify 5(5+30) because there is a common factor in the parenthesis (5+30)=5(1+6)
so the 5(5+30) becomes 5*5*(1+6)

Now on the second, 5(50+3), there is no common factor between 50, and 3. So it cannot be simplified.
