A horizontal force of 100 N is required to push a piece of furniture across a floor at a constant velocity. what is the net force acting on the furniture? How much is the friction force that acts on the sliding furniture? How much friction acts on the furniture when it is at rest on a horizontal surface?

If the furniture is constant velocity, there is no accelerating force (net force), so 100N equals friction force. If the furniture is at rest, there is no horizontal force. friction is an odd force, it only occurs when something is trying to move it.

constant velocity => Acceleration= 0
Net Force= m*a=0
Net force =0
130 - Friction=0
=> Friction Force= 130 kN
Net Force= m*a=0
Net force =0
130 - Friction=0
=> Friction Force= 130 kN
