President Carter decided to boycott the 1980 Summer Olympics because he wanted to protest the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan. I agree with his decision because it showed that the U.S. stands up for what is right and doesn’t support countries that behave badly. However, it was also sad for the athletes who trained hard and couldn't compete.
