Flag Design Final Project
Chosen Country: Brazil
Rationale
The design of my new flag for Brazil incorporates several elements that reflect the country's rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and commitment to social harmony. The central feature of the flag is a green field, symbolizing Brazil's lush forests and biodiversity, particularly the Amazon rainforest, which is often referred to as the "lungs of the Earth." Overlaid on this green field is a yellow diamond, representing the country's wealth and natural resources, specifically its mineral riches, such as gold. Inside the diamond, I have placed a blue circle symbolizing the sky and the rivers that traverse the land. This blue circle is adorned with the Southern Cross constellation, which bears cultural significance and navigational importance to the people of Brazil. These elements collectively represent Brazil's interconnectedness with nature and the stars, as well as its aspirations toward growth and unity.
The message I aim to communicate through this flag design is one of unity in diversity and a deep respect for nature. Brazil is a nation characterized by its diverse population and vibrant culture, and I wanted to emphasize this unity through the harmonious combination of colors and shapes. In contrast to the current flag, which features a more complex design with a banner and stars, my design simplifies the elements, making it more visually accessible while still rich in symbolism. By focusing on the essential aspects of Brazil's identity, my design aims to serve as a modern representation of the country that is both proud of its heritage and forward-looking in its aspirations.
