Flag Design Final Project: New Flag for Brazil
Rationale:
For my new flag design for Brazil, I aimed to incorporate elements that are deeply rooted in the country’s rich culture and symbolism. The background features a vibrant green field, representing the lush Amazon rainforest and the country's commitment to environmental preservation. Overlaying this is a large yellow diamond, a nod to Brazil's wealth in gold and natural resources. Inside the diamond, I included a blue circle depicting the globe, symbolizing unity among the diverse peoples of Brazil, along with white stars representing the 26 states and the Federal District. Each star’s position indicates its geographic location, reflecting Brazil's vastness and diversity.
The message I want to communicate with this flag is one of unity, environmental awareness, and celebration of diversity. Unlike the current flag of Brazil, which features a more complex design and an oft-criticized motto about order and progress, my design focuses on a more straightforward representation of unity and respect for nature. I believe this new flag speaks to modern Brazil's aspirations while honoring its heritage, making it a symbol that future generations can rally around.
Design Elements:
- Shapes: The rectangle shape of the flag is standard, while the diamond shape is used to create a focal point.
- Colors: Green, yellow, blue, and white are used harmoniously to represent vitality, wealth, unity, and peace.
- Balance: The layout is symmetrically balanced, with the diamond at the center drawing attention while the stars scale outward, creating a sense of harmony.
- Contrast: The bold colors contrast effectively, ensuring visibility and ease of recognition from a distance.
Overall, my flag design merges traditional symbols with contemporary ideals, fostering a sense of national pride and a vision for the future.
