Diana Krall: Thank you, Rachel. It's a pleasure.
Radio Presenter: Diana, your soulful voice and timeless style have captivated audiences worldwide. What sparked your passion for jazz?
Diana Krall: Growing up in Canada, I was surrounded by music. My mother played piano, and I was exposed to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Nat King Cole. Their voices, phrasing, and storytelling resonated deeply. I think it was the emotional authenticity that drew me in.
Radio Presenter: Those icons certainly paved the way. Can you tell us about your earliest memories of singing?
Diana Krall: I started singing in church choirs and school performances. But it wasn't until I discovered jazz that I felt a true connection. I was captivated by the improvisation, the nuances, and the storytelling.
Radio Presenter: Your unique blend of intimacy and power is captivating. Can you walk us through your creative process?
Diana Krall: For me, it's about interpreting lyrics, understanding the melody, and conveying the emotions truthfully. I aim to connect with the audience on a deeper level. When I'm on stage, I try to create a sense of vulnerability and honesty.
Radio Presenter: You've worked with incredible musicians. What drives your artistic vision?
Diana Krall: My love for the music, the stories it tells, and the connections it fosters. I strive to honor the tradition while adding my own perspective. I'm constantly inspired by the greats, but also by life experiences and human emotions.
Radio Presenter: Your dedication shines through. What's your advice for aspiring jazz vocalists?
Diana Krall: Study the greats, find your unique voice, and stay true to your artistic vision. Don't be afraid to take risks and experiment. And most importantly, love the music.
Radio Presenter: Wonderful advice, Diana. Can you tell us about any upcoming projects?
Diana Krall: I'm actually working on a new album, exploring some classic songs and new material. It's been a labor of love, and I'm excited to share it with my fans.
