One significant experience that has profoundly impacted me occurred during my junior year of college when I volunteered for a community service project aimed at providing mentorship to at-risk youth. Initially, I hesitated to take on this responsibility, fearing that I lacked the necessary skills to make a difference. However, I decided to take the risk, driven by a desire to give back and support those facing challenges similar to what I had experienced growing up.
Over the course of the program, I was paired with a teenage girl who was struggling with self-esteem and academic performance. Our weekly meetings became a safe space for her to express her fears and aspirations, and I found myself drawn into her journey.
