1) original volume= s^3
new volume=s^3-169=(s-.5)^3
multipy out the cube, and then solve. The s^3 should go away.
2)in a rectangle, diagonal^2=width^2+length^2
let n be width, n+2 be length, and n+4 be diagonal
(n+4)^2=n^2+(n+2)^2
solve for n
