Do I need a comma after 1893 in the sentence "Basketball was then introduced in 1893 in France."?

No comma is needed.

A simpler version would be
"Basketball was introduced in France in 1893."

The word 'then' is not necessary, but helps describe the history, if a previous sentence mentions that the game was invented two years earlier.
