It sounds like you have a great choice between two interesting options for your World War I portfolio! Here’s a brief overview to help you decide which option might suit you best:

OPTION 1: Timeline of World War I

  • Goal: Create a visual representation of significant events, figures, and technological advancements during World War I.
  • Focus Areas:
    • Major battles and turning points (e.g., Battle of the Somme, Gallipoli Campaign)
    • Key figures (e.g., generals, political leaders, notable soldiers)
    • Innovations in technology and warfare (e.g., tanks, aircraft, chemical warfare)
    • Social and political changes (e.g., the role of women, the Russian Revolution)
  • Skills Developed: Researching, synthesizing information into a visual format, understanding chronology, and the broader impact of WWI.

OPTION 2: End of World War I - Treaty of Versailles

  • Goal: Analyze the conclusion of the war, focusing on the Treaty of Versailles and its implications.
  • Focus Areas:
    • Impact of the war on civilian life: economic hardships, psychological effects, and changes in society.
    • Detailed examination of the Treaty of Versailles: terms, major players, and its historical context.
    • President Wilson’s 14 Points: ideals for peace and how they were represented in the treaty.
    • Treatment of Germany post-war and the seeds it sowed for future conflicts.
  • Skills Developed: Critical analysis, understanding of complex historical issues, and the ability to assess cause and effect in history.

Making Your Decision

Consider your interests and strengths. If you enjoy visual projects and organizing information chronologically, go for Option 1. If you prefer in-depth analysis and writing about historical impact, then Option 2 may be the better choice.

Whichever option you choose, make sure to put in the research and creativity to make your project stand out! If you have more specific questions about either option, feel free to ask!
