**Post-STAAR Reflection**

**How do you feel about your most recent STAAR?**
I feel kind of mixed about my STAAR. It was really confusing, and there were parts that made me feel overwhelmed. I was nervous going in, and I think I didn’t do as well as I wanted to. It was definitely not my best day.

**What surprised you?**
I was surprised by how tricky some of the questions were! I thought I would find the reading part easier, but some of the passages were really hard to understand. There were these strange words and questions that didn’t make sense to me at all. I didn’t expect to feel so lost during the test. I thought I would at least recognize more of the topics, but some of the stories were about things I didn’t know much about. That was a big surprise!

**What did you struggle with most? Was it what you thought you were going to struggle with? If it was, how did you conquer it?**
I struggled the most with the reading part. I was worried that the writing would be hard, but I actually found that part easier than I thought. For the reading, I had a hard time picking out the main idea and details. I didn’t expect to feel so confused! To try to conquer it, I took deep breaths and tried to focus on one question at a time. I also double-checked my answers when I could, even though I was running out of time.

**Did you study? What studying method helped you most?**
Yes, I did study! I used flashcards for vocabulary words, and that helped a little bit. My teacher also gave us practice tests, which were kind of like the real STAAR. Taking those practice tests helped me get used to the format and the timing, but I still felt nervous because the actual test felt a lot harder.

**Having experienced STAAR this year, how will you prepare better throughout the school year in the next grade? Will you conquer the STAAR?**
Next year, I want to prepare better by studying more regularly instead of cramming last minute. I think I will read more books to help with comprehension and maybe even work with friends on practice questions. My plan is to stay on top of my studying so I feel more ready. I really want to conquer the STAAR next time and show what I can do! I’ll try my best!
