Did you know that for nearly a year, people in Berlin couldn’t get food and supplies because of a big argument between two superpowers? The Berlin Blockade happened from June 1948 to May 1949. It was when the Soviet Union, led by Joseph Stalin, blocked all roads, railways, and waterways to West Berlin, trying to force the Western Allies (like the United States, Britain, and France) out of the city. This made it hard for the people living there because they couldn’t get what they needed! The Soviet Union wanted to control all of Berlin, while the Western Allies wanted to keep their part free. I think the Berlin Blockade was not justified because it hurt so many innocent people just to show power. Instead of talking things out, the Soviets chose to be mean and stop supplies, which was unfair to the families in West Berlin.
I think the berlin Blockade was not justified because it hurt so many people just to show their power. I think this because in pbs.org it states that “Initially the Soviet authorities thought the plan was working. "Our control and restrictive measures have dealt a strong blow at the prestige of the Americans and British in Germany. " The Soviet authorities reported. But the Western Allies responded immediately by mounting a tremendous airlift.” This evidence supports my argument because The soviet union showed power from attacking Americans and the British in germany. This one reason Why i think that The berlin Blockade was not justified.
Another reason why i think that the berlin blockade was not justified is. In pbs.ord it states that “Not only did the blockade turn out to be totally ineffective, it ended up backfiring on the Soviets in other ways. It provoked genuine fears of war in the West. And instead of preventing the establishment of an independent West Germany, it accelerated the Allies plans to set up the state.” This evidence supports my claim because it gives a clear example of what happened to the soviets when the berlin blockade backfired on them and also what ended up happening to Germany When they split west berlin and east berlin.
Some people think the Berlin Blockade was justified, because according to , “ They believe it helped the Soviet Union protect what they wanted in Eastern Europe. After World War II, Germany got divided into two parts: the East was controlled by the Soviets, while the West was managed by the Allies”. The blockade was like a big wall that stopped supplies from getting into West Berlin, which the Soviets felt was important for keeping their part safe. Which means that they purposely stopped all items and goods from coming to the west. Although this may be true, this does not outweigh the fact that, in my opinion, the Berlin Blockade was not justified. This is because the blockade made life really hard for regular families living in West Berlin. They had a tough time finding food, medicine, and other supplies. It didn’t seem fair to make innocent people suffer just because of the disagreement between the Soviets and the West. write a conclusion based on this essay make it seem kid friendly like a kid wrote this and use kid friendly words.

In conclusion, I believe that the Berlin Blockade was not fair because it caused a lot of suffering for innocent families just to show power. Throughout my essay, I explained how the Soviets tried to prove they were strong by blocking supplies to West Berlin, but this only made things worse for the people living there. The Western Allies quickly came to help with an airlift, and instead of hurting them, the blockade backfired on the Soviets and made tensions even worse. Even though some might think the blockade was justified to protect Eastern Europe, it’s hard to ignore how it didn’t think about the everyday lives of families struggling for food and medicine. In the end, it’s important to remember that showing power shouldn’t come at the expense of innocent people’s lives.
