To check if the answer x=6 is correct, you would substitute x=6 in the given equation to get
(2/3)(x+6)
=(2/3)(6+6)
=8
Since it does not equal zero, the answer is not correct.
Can you now figure out what value of x it takes to make the expression to become zero?
(2/3)(x+6)
=(2/3)(6+6)
=8
Since it does not equal zero, the answer is not correct.

I am not certain of your problem. I am assuming it it this:
2/3 * (x+6)=0
in that case, x=-6
2/3 * (x+6)=0
in that case, x=-6
