I would ignore the request, I don't go to work to make friends, I got to work to get a paycheck. Making friends at work is a fine line. Now occasionally you will find someone with your same professional work drive, and you will work together to get the job done properly. That rarely happens, and when it does there are boundaries is place. Additional communication would be no phone during work hours. To let all staff know that adding friends at work looks unprofessional and could come across as harassment.
