Need assistance with this problem. I have computed the problem but my answer isn't matching one of the multiple choices. What am I doing wrong?

11-6
____
7-7

11 - 7 = 4
4 - 6/7
= 3 + 7/7 - 6/7
=3 1/7 which is the same as 22/7
the multiple choices on my test are:
a) 1/5 b) undefined c) 5 d)5/7
Can you show me how you got one of the multiple choices please? Thanks.

Since the denominator is zero, the answer is "undefined"

Hi Drwls,

Can you tell me if I computed this problem correctly? Since the answer, according to you is undefined because of the zero, did I compute the question properly? What should I change in onder to make the end result zero? Thank you so much for your help!!!

To find the correct answer, let's break down the problem step by step:

First, we have the expression:
11 - 6
___
7 - 7

Next, we evaluate the numerator and denominator separately:
Numerator: 11 - 6 = 5
Denominator: 7 - 7 = 0

Now we have:
5
___
0

Division by zero is undefined. So, the correct answer to this problem is "undefined" (option b) from the multiple choice list.

It seems that you made an error when you subtracted 7 from 11. The correct result is 4, not 3. This mistake in the numerator led to an incorrect solution. Make sure to double-check your calculations to avoid such errors in the future.
