Answers
2 1/2 + 3 1/4 + 3 5/8
First you need to find the common denominator -- which is 8.
Then convert each fraction to the common denominator.
2 1/2 = 2 4/8
3 1/4 = 3 2/8
Add:
2 4/8 + 3 2/8 + 3 5/8
What do you get?

Hi Sue,
Thanks for responding so promptly. After adding the problem I got 8 11/8 but my answer isn't one of the multiple choices. What am I doing wrong now? The multiple choices are 10 3/8, 9 3/8, 7 3/8 or 8 3/8. Thanks again for your help.

Your answer of 8 11/8 is right. But you need to reduce or simplify it.
8 11/8 = 9 3/8
8 11/8 = 9 3/8
Sue, thank you so very much. I now will practice this problem for future references. Thanks again.
