One time, my friends invited me to skip school and go hang out at the mall instead. I really wanted to fit in with them, but I knew that skipping school was a bad idea. I took a deep breath and told them, "I can't go; I don't want to get in trouble and miss my classes." They tried to convince me at first, but I stood my ground and said, "Thanks for inviting me, but I’ll catch up with you later." I felt proud of myself for using refusal skills to make a good choice.
