The highest layer of Earth's atmosphere is the exosphere. It extends from the thermosphere, starting around 600 kilometers (about 370 miles) above the Earth's surface, and can go up to 10,000 kilometers (approximately 6,200 miles) or more. The exosphere is where the atmosphere gradually fades into outer space and contains very low density of particles, primarily hydrogen and helium.
